Title

ALLEN PARISH CANOE FESTIVAL

2015 COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP

BACKGROUND

In 2012, an Oberlin High School senior, with a passion for public service and the desire to bring people together, realized a longtime dream: a new festival for Allen Parish. Along with a few dedicated volunteers, Matthew Hebert founded the Allen Parish Canoe Festival, which is preparing to celebrate its fourth year on April 24-25, 2015. One of the Executive Board’s goals has always been to offer a scholarship to other Allen Parish High School seniors with a deep commitment to community service. This year, the Board will award a one-time scholarship in the amount of $200 to a deserving 2015 graduate of an Allen Parish public high school.

PURPOSE

To provide financial assistance to a student with an interest in pursuing continuing education in any field, and who has made significant contributions to their community through public service.
